Chess gives children the\u00a0 ability and also help them develop maturity and learn life lessons through their efforts. The Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy Chess Club emphasis on \u2018life skills\u2019 is at the core of what we teach.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1810 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/contaminasian.com\/dir1\/wp-content\/uploads\/chess.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"318\" height=\"179\" \/>Why Chess,\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">According University of Memphis<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">research<\/span><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">, playing chess significantly improves children\u2019s visual memory, attention span, and spatial-reasoning ability.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">On<\/span><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">ichess.<\/span><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">net<\/span><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">, the writers note that the skills we learn from chess benefit us in other areas of life: \u201cIf we all teach children to play chess when they\u2019re four or five, they will be primed for school.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Chess teaches children fundamentals, like problem solving, focus, patience, and follow through.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Back in 1973, Dr. Albert Frank conducted an oft-cited<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">landmark study<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">called \u201cChess and Aptitudes\u201d in which children received chess instruction for two hours a week.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">He found a significant correlation between the ability to play chess well, and spatial, numerical, and administrative-directional abilities.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The game also appears to improve verbal skills by exercising functions of the brain related to language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Other scientific<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">studies<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">have found that the brains of expert chess players differ from non-chess players.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Looking at MRIs,<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">researchers saw<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">that grandmaster chess players have more activity in their frontal and parietal cortices, the parts of the brain that focus on problem-solving and recognition.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Advanced players also use both sides of the brain when they are playing this is noteworthy because using both sides of the brain has been found to<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">help prevent dementia<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"blast mmt-sentence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">from developing later in life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy Chess Club wants to give every kid a chance to learn this very important game that has change the life of so many children.\u00a0Students in our camps are taught at their level of understanding and are grouped with other kids of similar ability in order to provide an effective learning opportunity for children of all experience levels.\u00a0Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy Chess Club are accepting children ages 7 &#8211; 18 years old.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>[caldera_form id=&#8221;CF5beb9f2e17c74&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The mission of\u00a0Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy Chess Club (age 7-18) is to have a positive impact on children\u2019s lives through the game of chess, imparting life skills, character qualities,\u00a0 the importance of\u00a0building confidence and self-esteem.
